How we celebrate

Our History

The Fort Worth Assembly was organized by Mrs. Lottie Mae Hamilton to lift the moral standards of the girls of Fort Worth and to present them to society as the epitome of womanhood. The charter membership included Fort Worth women who were parents of debutantes and relatives of futures debutantes. November 28, 1941 was the first debuante ball that presented twenty-two college trained ladies at the Pioneer Palace.

The past presidents of the Fort Worth Assembly have included Mrs. Lottie M. Hamilton, Mrs. Beulah Yerwood, Mrs. Kathryn Glaze, Mrs. Mildred Scott, Mrs. Sophia Thomas, Mrs. Thelma Pennigar, Mrs. Hester McDaniel, Mrs. Mlidred Sims and Mrs. Bonnie Winkfield.  The current president is legacy debutante Mrs. Charlece Thomas James.

During the period of time from 1943 to 1945 debutante presentations were canceled due to World War II activities. On December 26, 1946 the first Debutante Ball following the war was held at the Northside Coliseum when twenty-two young ladies were presented.

Later debutante balls were held at Lake Worth Ballroom, The Texas Hotel Grand Ballroom, Hyatt Regency Hotel Grand Ballroom, Will Rogers Coliseum - The Round Up Inn and the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Fort Worth Assembly Debutante Balls are held annually during the Christmas Holiday.
